QA Automation Engineer

Job Overview: 

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Automation Engineer to drive the planning and execution of automated software testing across the company.

The QA Automation Engineer will work closely with company leadership to define and develop an automation framework that can be duplicated across multiple projects. They will then work closely with the QA team to identify appropriate test suites for automation and write the appropriate scripts. 

In addition, the QA Automation Engineer will be responsible for educating members of the QA team in the basics of test automation so that they may assist in maintaining and updating test scripts related to their projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Directors of QA and Engineering in planning and developing a company-wide automation strategy
  • Converting test cases and suites into executable automated tests using approved tools and technologies (e.g. Cypress)
  • Working with the SRE and engineering teams to integrate automated testing into the build release process
  • Creating technical bug reports based upon automated testing results
  • Maintaining and fixing automated tests as projects evolve
  • Maintaining and updating automated testing framework
  • Performing API and performance testing
  • Teaching and mentoring QA Analysts in understanding and updating automated tests

Job Requirements:

  • 4+ years experience in quality engineering and software test development
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Experience with common web languages and automation frameworks, including JavaScript, Python, TypeScript, Cypress, Selenium, Jasmine, etc.
  • Experience in planning and executing automation test frameworks
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Familiarity with common issue tracking tools (i.e. JIRA, Bugzilla, etc.)
  • Experience with virtual machines
  • Strong background in system and application level testing
  • Working knowledge of networking essentials
  • Experience testing client and server applications
  • Expert troubleshooting and reasoning skills
  • Self-Starter - ability to quickly learn new tools and products
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with all project roles, across multiple project teams
  • Flexibility to work with changing priorities
  • Excellent time management skills to multi-task across multiple projects and releases simultaneously

Strong Plus / Success factors:

  • Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting
  • Experience with performance, load, and/or security testing
  • Ability to accurately identify real world software use cases
  • Have a passion for software quality and enjoy partnering with developers to solve issues and create solutions
